How AI Helps Me Solve Tech Problems Faster

How AI Helps Me Solve Tech Problems Faster

During many of my tech visits, I run into situations that are not always obvious at first. Devices behave strangely, apps change their settings, or something that worked yesterday suddenly stops working today.

Over the past year, I have started using artificial intelligence as a research assistant during these visits. Tools like ChatGPT or Grok allow me to quickly investigate problems, confirm ideas, and explore solutions while I am helping someone in real time.

AI does not replace experience. It simply helps me reach answers faster and verify possible solutions when troubleshooting technology.

A Real Example During a Sonos Setup

One recent visit involved setting up a pair of Sonos headphones for a client who wanted to watch television without disturbing others in the home.

The challenge was that her television audio normally ran through an older Sonos soundbar. The headphones were designed to work within the Sonos system, but the configuration did not immediately behave the way we expected.

While working through the setup, I used ChatGPT as a quick assistant to review possible connection methods and confirm how the Sonos ecosystem handles audio routing.

Within minutes, we confirmed a practical solution. The headphones were paired through Bluetooth directly to the Apple TV instead of routing through the soundbar. This allowed her to watch television privately while keeping the rest of the system unchanged.

This kind of quick research can make a big difference during a real tech visit.

AI Helps Me Investigate Problems Quickly

Technology problems often involve several moving parts. A device, an app, the WiFi network, and sometimes another connected service may all be involved.

When something unusual appears, AI tools help me explore possibilities quickly. Instead of searching through dozens of web pages, I can ask targeted questions and review possible explanations within seconds.

This approach allows me to confirm troubleshooting ideas while still focusing on the person I am helping.

Experience Still Matters

Even though AI can help speed up research, experience is still the most important part of solving technology problems.

Working directly with seniors has taught me how devices behave in real homes. Printers disconnect from WiFi. Passwords are written down in notebooks. Streaming devices become confusing after updates.

Many of the issues I solve during visits are similar to the situations described in my guide to
printer troubleshooting for seniors.

AI can provide ideas, but real-world experience helps determine which solutions will actually work for the person sitting in front of me.

AI Also Helps Small Businesses

The same tools that help during tech visits can also support small businesses.

Many owners use AI to draft emails, answer questions, organize information, or generate ideas for their websites. Learning how to use these tools properly can save a significant amount of time during the workday.

Through my work at
AI consulting for businesses,
I help business owners understand practical ways AI can assist with daily tasks.

I also provide training for people who want to learn how tools like ChatGPT can support their work more effectively. You can see examples of this in my guide to
ChatGPT training for small businesses.

Technology Keeps Changing

Technology evolves quickly. Devices update their software, apps introduce new features, and online services constantly change how they work.

Using AI responsibly helps me stay flexible when new problems appear. It provides another tool for researching unfamiliar situations while still relying on hands-on experience.

Most importantly, it allows me to help people solve technology problems faster so they can get back to using their devices with confidence.
